Jagatsinghpur SP Akhileshvar Singh said further course of investigation will depend on the findings of the post-mortem and viscera samples collected for further forensic analysis.
Sergy’s body has been kept in a mortuary at Paradip port, pending communication from the Russian authorities through the ministry of external affairs, he said.
Amid the hue and cry over the third Russian national’s death within a fortnight in Odisha, DGP Bansal said there is no reason to link Milyakov’s death with deaths of two Russian nationals, Pavel Antov and Vladamir Vyadanov, just because the three are citizens of the same country.
“The coincidence should not be seen as part of a series of deaths. There is no whiff of any foul play in it as of now. However, the Jagatsinghpur police have continued the probe with an open mind,” the DGP said.
